June 19th is the celebration of Juneteenth also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Cel-Liberation Day. It is a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States on June 19th, 1865. Specifically, this is a celebration of the emancipation of the last remaining enslaved African Americans in the Confederacy.

Thus, this is why SOF created our poetry slam competition to showcase black talent and celebrate this significant day. This competition comprises 5 young black artist, each of them will perform their original pieces and you the listeners will have a chance to vote on your favorite artist on the Shot of Facts website!
